Partnership and terms

  • Who can become an EKO-OYLIS collection partner?

EKO-OYLIS partners with any food service business or food manufacturer that generates used cooking oil or animal fats: restaurants, cafes, fast food chains, hotel kitchens, catering facilities, bakeries, and food production plants. Current partners include KFC, McDonald's, Hesburger, Nestlé, and 2,500+ other businesses across Ukraine. Minimum volume requirements are discussed individually — contact our manager to get started.

  • Does EKO-OYLIS pay for used cooking oil?

Yes. EKO-OYLIS purchases used vegetable oil at competitive market prices. The exact rate depends on volume, quality, and collection frequency — all terms are fixed in an annual supply contract. Collection containers and logistics are provided completely free of charge. This applies to all types of vegetable oil: sunflower, rapeseed, palm, frying oil and blends.

  • What collection containers does EKO-OYLIS provide?

EKO-OYLIS supplies partners with reusable UCO collection containers free of charge, available in 20 L, 60 L, 200 L, and 1,000 L (IBC) sizes. A dedicated manager selects the right container type and quantity based on your facility's daily and weekly output volumes. Container installation and replacement are included at no cost.

  • How often does EKO-OYLIS collect used cooking oil?

Collection is performed daily by EKO-OYLIS's own fleet of vehicles. Specific pick-up schedules are arranged individually with each partner based on accumulation volumes and facility location. Large-volume or multi-site partners may receive multiple collections per week; smaller facilities receive a schedule matched to their output.

  • What documents are required to start a partnership?

An annual supply contract is signed before collection begins. EKO-OYLIS prepares the full document package — contract and delivery notes. The partner provides standard registration documents for their legal entity or sole proprietorship. A dedicated account manager handles all paperwork from the initial enquiry through signing.

  • Is there a minimum volume of used cooking oil required to start?

There is no fixed minimum volume threshold. EKO-OYLIS works with businesses of all sizes — from single-location cafes to large national chains (2,500+ partner sites across Ukraine). A dedicated manager will assess your facility's volumes and propose the most suitable collection and payment arrangement.

Oil types and feedstock

  • Do you collect sunflower oil used for frying?

Yes. EKO-OYLIS collects all types of used vegetable oil, including sunflower, rapeseed, palm, corn and their blends. The key requirement is that the oil is of vegetable origin and has been used for cooking or frying. No separate containers are needed for different oil types.

  • Do you collect used frying fats and vegetable shortening?

Yes. Used frying fats — including solid vegetable shortening that has been heated — are accepted alongside used frying oil and cooking oil after deep-frying. If you have questions about a specific fat type, contact our manager to confirm acceptance terms.

  • Do you accept animal fats from food production?

EKO-OYLIS specialises in used vegetable oil collection. For animal fats (beef tallow, lard, chicken fat after heat processing), acceptance terms are agreed individually. Contact our manager to discuss whether your facility's output qualifies and what conditions apply.

  • What counts as used cooking oil (UCO)?

Used cooking oil (UCO) is any vegetable oil or fat that has been used for frying, roasting or heat processing of food. This includes: sunflower, rapeseed, palm, corn and coconut oil after frying, mixed cooking oils, and solid vegetable fats used in fryers. Expired or off-specification cooking oil that has not been used for cooking may also be accepted — contact our manager to confirm.

Problem-based and regulatory

  • What should a restaurant do with used cooking oil?

The correct and legally compliant solution is to transfer it to a certified collector such as EKO-OYLIS. We supply containers free of charge, collect on an agreed schedule, and pay the partner for the volume collected. Pouring oil down the drain, disposing of it in general waste or burning it is prohibited and can result in administrative penalties. Partnering with a certified operator is the only compliant option — and it generates income.

  • Can used cooking oil be poured down the drain?

No. Cooking oil does not dissolve in water. It blocks pipes and grease traps, and when it reaches open waterways it forms a surface film that depletes oxygen and damages aquatic ecosystems. The correct disposal method is collection in sealed containers and transfer to a licensed operator. EKO-OYLIS provides containers at no cost and pays for collected volumes.

Commercial terms

  • How much does EKO-OYLIS pay for used frying oil?

The purchase price for used frying oil and cooking oil after deep-frying depends on volume, quality, and collection frequency. EKO-OYLIS offers competitive market rates per kilogram or litre — terms are fixed in an annual supply contract. Contact our manager to receive a quote based on your facility's output volumes.

  • How do I start selling used cooking oil to EKO-OYLIS?

Submit an enquiry on the website or call our manager. The manager will assess your facility's volumes, propose terms and provide a contract. Once signed, we install containers and agree a collection schedule. Payment for collected oil is made on a monthly or other agreed basis. Containers and logistics are fully covered by EKO-OYLIS.

ISCC, logistics, processing

  • What is ISCC EU certification and why does it matter for my business?

ISCC EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is an internationally recognized sustainability certification verifying that collected UCO meets EU standards for use as renewable fuel feedstock (HVO and biodiesel). EKO-OYLIS is a certified ISCC EU UCO collecting point. For partners, this means your oil enters a legally traceable, fully documented supply chain — essential for food chains and manufacturers with ESG reporting obligations or EU Due Diligence requirements.

  • What happens to used cooking oil after EKO-OYLIS collects it?

Collected UCO is shipped to EU-based processing plants where it is used as feedstock for HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) or biodiesel production. These renewable fuels reduce CO₂ emissions by 85–95% compared to fossil diesel. The entire supply chain is verified and documented under ISCC EU certification.

  • Which regions of Ukraine does EKO-OYLIS serve?

EKO-OYLIS primarily serves Kyiv and the Kyiv region with daily collection routes operated by its own fleet. Collection in other Ukrainian regions is available on request — contact a manager to discuss availability and terms.

EU supply and feedstock

  • Does EKO-OYLIS supply used cooking oil in bulk to EU processors?

Yes. EKO-OYLIS operates as a certified UCO collecting point, aggregating used cooking oil from 2,500+ partner sites across Ukraine and supplying it to EU-based processing facilities. The oil is used as feedstock for HVO and biodiesel production. For bulk supply enquiries, contact us via the EU representative office at eco-oylis.info.

  • Is EKO-OYLIS ISCC EU certified as a UCO collecting point?

Yes. EKO-OYLIS holds ISCC EU certification as a used cooking oil collecting point. Every cargo comes with full chain-of-custody documentation, GHG emission data and Proof of Sustainability (PoS) certificates compliant with EU RED III requirements. EKO-OYLIS UCO qualifies for double-counting under Annex IX Part B of the Renewable Energy Directive.

  • Can UCO from EKO-OYLIS be used as feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)?

Yes. Used cooking oil certified under ISCC EU and qualifying as Annex IX Part B feedstock is eligible as HEFA-SAF feedstock under the ReFuelEU Aviation mandate. EKO-OYLIS UCO meets the origin and certification requirements for SAF production. Contact us for cargo specifications and supply volumes.

ESG and documentation

  • What documentation does EKO-OYLIS provide for EU buyers?

EKO-OYLIS provides: ISCC EU Proof of Sustainability (PoS) certificate, GHG lifecycle emission calculations per batch, chain-of-custody documentation from collection point to delivery, and standard trade documents (contract, delivery notes, certificates of analysis on request). All documentation is compliant with EU RED III and applicable ISCC EU scheme requirements. Partners implementing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) food-safety system receive documentation in a format compatible with HACCP requirements; documents are available on request for any selected period.

  • Can my company use EKO-OYLIS documentation in its ESG report?

Yes. EKO-OYLIS provides a contract and delivery notes for every collection. These documents record the volume of used cooking oil transferred and confirm its onward processing into renewable fuel. For food chains and manufacturers with ESG reporting obligations, this provides auditable evidence of compliant waste management and measurable CO₂ reduction (approximately 2.5 kg CO₂ per litre of UCO recycled).

  • What is the environmental benefit of recycling used cooking oil?

Used cooking oil (UCO) is a valuable feedstock for HVO biofuel, which replaces fossil diesel in transport and industrial heating. One litre of properly recycled UCO reduces CO₂ emissions by approximately 2.5 kg compared to burning fossil diesel. When disposed of incorrectly — poured down drains — cooking oil pollutes waterways and damages sewage infrastructure. Partnering with EKO-OYLIS means legal disposal, guaranteed payment, zero logistics cost, and documented carbon reduction data for corporate ESG reporting.
