Cleaner energy starts with what we collect

Every litre of used cooking oil we collect from a restaurant becomes feedstock for biodiesel — a fuel with a carbon footprint multiple times lower than fossil diesel or palm-oil biodiesel.

01 / Mission

Three pillars of our work

UCO (Used Cooking Oil) collection is not a waste-removal service. It is the first link in a chain that reduces environmental pollution, returns raw material to the economy, and cuts CO₂ emissions through biodiesel.

P / 01

Environmental cleanliness

Used oil poured into drains or soil clogs pipes, damages treatment plants, and ends up in waterways. Systematic UCO collection prevents that pollution at the source — at the restaurant, the production floor, the chain venue.

P / 02

Circular economy

The UCO we collect does not go to landfill or incineration. It becomes feedstock for biodiesel producers — a renewable fuel that closes the «oil → fuel → energy» loop and reduces dependence on fossil resources.

P / 03

CO₂ emissions reduction

Biodiesel from UCO carries a carbon footprint of ≈ 0.216 kg CO₂eq/kg — over 45× lower than palm-oil biodiesel (9.87 kg CO₂eq/kg). Confirmed by a 2024 LCA study.

02 / Data

The numbers behind the mission

A side-by-side comparison of three fuels per an independent LCA study. Method uncertainty under 10%.

// UCO biodiesel

UCO biodiesel

CO₂ footprint
0.216 kg CO₂eq/kg
Energy demand
6.78 MJ/kg
NER
5.49

Lowest carbon footprint among the compared fuels. Highest Net Energy Ratio — for every unit of energy invested in production, 5.49 units of useful energy are returned.

// Palm biodiesel

Palm-oil biodiesel

CO₂ footprint
9.87 kg CO₂eq/kg
Energy demand
18.5 MJ/kg
NER
2.01

Over 45× higher carbon footprint due to land-use change and agricultural production. Energy demand nearly three times higher than UCO.

// Conventional diesel

Conventional diesel

NER
0.83

An NER below 1 means more energy is spent extracting and refining the fossil fuel than the final product contains.

[1] LCA values per Springer 2024 (DOI: 10.1007/s10668-024-05692-1); method uncertainty < 10% per the same publication. India alone is estimated at 3-4 million metric tons of UCO per year — an industry-scale benchmark.

For EU buyers and partners

EKO-OYLIS supplies certified UCO feedstock to EU-based HVO, biodiesel and SAF processors under ISCC EU chain-of-custody.

Certified UCO collecting point since 2008

EKO-OYLIS is an ISCC EU certified used cooking oil (UCO) collecting point operating in Ukraine since 2008. We collect UCO from 2,500+ food service and food production partners across Ukraine and supply it as certified feedstock for HVO, biodiesel and SAF production at EU-based processing facilities. Every shipment is backed by ISCC EU chain-of-custody documentation, GHG emission calculations and Proof of Sustainability (PoS) certificates.

EU RED III · Annex IX Part B

EKO-OYLIS UCO qualifies as Annex IX Part B feedstock under EU RED III, eligible for double-counting towards EU renewable energy targets. The feedstock is primarily sunflower-origin UCO, reflecting Ukraine's dominant cooking oil type. For supply volumes, cargo specifications and Proof of Sustainability documentation, contact our EU representative office at eco-oylis.info.

SAF feedstock under ReFuelEU Aviation

EKO-OYLIS UCO is eligible as HEFA-SAF feedstock under the ReFuelEU Aviation mandate (2025+). ISCC EU certified and Annex IX Part B compliant. Contact us for supply terms and cargo documentation for SAF-pathway buyers.
